Three provinces in Canada, Ontario, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island have invited candidates in the latest round of the PNP draw July 2023
The provincial nominee program or PNP is a great way to receive a Canadian permanent residency. Each PNP has one stream that is aligned with the Express Entry System, known as ‘Enhanced Nominations’. The advantage of enhanced PNP is that they award an extra CRS score of 600 points, which will guarantee PR to the applicant through express entry. Also, there is another stream under the PNP, known as ‘the base stream’. Here, you can apply to a PNP stream directly and once you obtain a provincial nomination, the federal government will process your permanent residence application.
Provinces in Canada have been asking for more independent authority over economic immigration, like Quebec. Quebec is the only province in Canada that has total authority over the selection of economic immigrants. Acknowledging the demand of provinces, IRCC is taking a new initiative by launching a Provincial Immigration Levels Plan. This plan will welcome more immigrants and the provinces will become more capable of providing adequate jobs, housing, and other important infrastructure for newcomers.
PNP Draw July 2023 Results from July 15-20
Ontario
On July 20, Ontario held two draws under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream for candidates in specific occupations. The province has invited 902 candidates for tech occupations and 159 candidates for healthcare professions, with the CRS score ranging between 458-462.
British Columbia
On July 18, British Columbia held its usual Tuesday PNP draw, inviting more than 167 candidates in four draws. The draws were held for candidates in the Skilled Workers or International Graduate Streams and Express Entry.
The largest draw invited 112 candidates for tech occupations with a minimum SIRS score requirement of 88. Other draws were also occupation specific with a SIRS score requirement of 60. The invitation includes 39 early childhood educators and assistants, 16 healthcare professionals, and five other priority occupation candidates.
Prince Edward Island
The first PEI PNP draw of this month was held on July 20, inviting candidates from two categories: Labour and Express entry stream, and the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream. 97 candidates were invited to the labour and express entry stream under the Critical Worker Stream who are working for a PEI Employer and have a minimum EOI score of 50. 9 candidates were invited under the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream with a minimum point requirement of 80.
