First Express Entry Draw of December

On December 6, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited candidates in the first Express Entry draw of December. The department issued 4,750 invitations to apply (ITAs) in an all-program draw. To be considered, candidates must have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 561.

The last draw was held on October 26. However, on November 14, IRCC mentioned that some applicants were having difficulty using the Express Entry Profile Builder and could not submit their applications. The department then tweeted on November 16th, stating that the issue had been resolved. It is uncertain whether this problem was the reason for the extended gap in draws.

During the last draw, which took place on October 26, 3,600 candidates received ITAs in a category-based selection draw for healthcare occupations. The candidates were required to have a minimum CRS score of 431. There were two additional draws that same week. On October 25, IRCC invited 300 candidates in a category-based selection draw for those who demonstrate French-speaking proficiency. The minimum CRS score required for consideration in this draw was 486.

On October 24, IRCC issued invitations to 1,548 candidates in a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-only draw. Candidates were required to have a minimum score of 776. Express Entry candidates who were nominated via the PNP automatically received an additional 600 CRS points, causing the minimum CRS for this type of draw to be higher.

Express Entry Program

Express Entry (EE) is an online system for immigration applications, providing individuals the opportunity to submit their profiles for consideration as skilled immigrants. The selection process prioritizes candidates with the highest rankings, who are subsequently invited to apply for permanent residency. The Express Entry Program was introduced by the Canadian Government in 2015 to tackle the skilled labor shortage in Canada. The old Canada Immigration System was slow and had a lot of backlogs. The sole purpose of the new system is to immigrate skilled professionals in a faster way. The Express Entry system has now become the most popular immigration system globally.
