Canadian PR Cost Changes Effective from April 30, 2024

Attention: IRCC has announced Increase in Canada Permanent Residence Fees

Spotlight:

  • There will be an increase in Canada’s Permanent Resident fees, as announced by IRCC
  • These changes are being introduced by IRCC by Canada’s Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).
  • Canada’s Permanent Resident fees will be updated starting on April 30, 2024.
  • The modifications in fees will only be valid for the period between April 2024 and March 2026.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is raising fees for all types of permanent residence applications in Canada starting from April 30th, including economic, permit holder, family, and humanitarian classes.

The IRCC mentions that this fee hike is being implemented by Canada’s Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR), which is calculated based on the cumulative percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Canada, as published by Statistics Canada.

The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently expanded exemptions from the Right of Permanent Residence (RPR) Fee. In addition to dependent children and protected persons, this now includes principal applicants and their accompanying family members, as well as other specified groups of applicants.
