Express Entry Program: IRCC invites 700 candidates in All Program Draw.

IRCC has conducted an All-Program draw inviting 700 candidates through the Express Entry program. To meet the eligibility requirements candidates must acquire a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 511.

Today, IRCC has announced that through the Category based selection, they will invite 1500 healthcare workers. Furthermore, IRCC will also invite candidates with work experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations. This will be the first-ever category-based Express Entry Draw for STEM professionals.

The first-ever category-based Express Entry Draw was held on June 28, which invited 500 healthcare workers with a minimum CRS score of 476. The latest all-program draw in 2023 has witnessed the highest CRS score of 511, surpassing any previous draws. This score represents a notable increase from the last all-program draw held on June 27, where 4,300 candidates were invited with a minimum CRS score of 486. Furthermore, the current CRS score is 35 points higher than the required score of 476 in the category-based draw conducted on June 28.

Category Based Draws

Sean Fraser, Canada’s Immigration Minister, has announced the implementation of category-based selection draws targeting Express Entry candidates. These draws aim to attract a greater number of highly skilled professionals specializing in specific occupations that are in high demand within Canada.

The new categories under the Express Entry Programs are:

Healthcare occupations

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations

Trade occupations

Transport occupations

Agriculture and Agri-food occupations

French-language proficiency

Express Entry Program

The Express Entry Program was introduced by the Canadian Government in 2015 to tackle the skilled labor shortage in Canada. The old Canada Immigration System was slow and had a lot of backlogs. The sole purpose of the new system is to immigrate skilled professionals in a faster way. The Express Entry system has now become the most popular immigration system globally.

Express Entry System runs three of Canada’s most prominent economic immigration programs.

The Federal Skilled Worker Program

The Canadian Experience Class

The Federal Skilled Trades Program

The pandemic has made drastic changes globally, and as a result of this, Canada is facing a labor shortage. The government has introduced a new Immigration Level Plan for 2023-2025, aiming to welcome 1.5 million new immigrants to the country to tackle the labor shortage. Hence, management jobs are in high demand in Canada.

The new immigration plan embraces immigration as a strategy to help employers in Canada find potential workers. It seeks to attract the skills required to fill in shortages across key sectors in the country including Healthcare, Skilled Trades, Manufacturing, and Technology. As a result of this, management jobs are gaining high demand in Canada.

The Canadian government increased the target of the Express Entry Program and the Provincial Nominee Program. Under the Immigration Level Plan, the Express Entry Program will welcome 82,880 in 2023, 109,020 in 2024, and 114,000 in 2025. The second-most preferred Canadian immigration pathway, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), will be another leading intake pathway for economic immigrants. Canada’s PNP targets will increase to 105,500 in 2023, 110,000 in 2024, and 117,500 in 2025.

Management jobs within a wide range of fields are in demand in Canada. The opportunities vary from construction manager to manager in healthcare. Most workers in management positions are retiring faster than they can be replaced. The majority of management jobs in Canada can be found in major cities such as Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Toronto. No doubt being a manager in Canada has its perks – a higher salary, more vacation time, and increased prestige and recognition from higher management.

 Management Jobs Eligibility

Workers with a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field can immigrate to Canada in six months, through the Express Entry Program. The express entry program ranks candidates based on their online work profile. If the candidate has a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 430 or above, you are eligible to receive an invitation to apply for Permanent Residence.

Benefits of Canada PR

  1. PR allows the resident to move to any territory or province of Canada. The employee doesn’t have to stick with an employer, job, or province.
  2. The majority of Canadian PR cards are valid for 5 years. But the positive thing is that there is no limit to renewing or extending the visa status.
  3. It allows the PR cardholder to bring his/her family along with them. However, they need to sponsor some residents.
  4. The Canadian government ensures free education up to 12th grade for all children of permanent residents.
  5. Medical care is free for all Canadian PR cardholders.
  6. The residents of Canada can get suitable high-paying jobs and tax rebates, which help them enjoy a good quality of life.
  7. PR is the road to Canadian citizenship. If an immigrant has lived in the country for 3 years, then he is eligible for Canadian citizenship.
  8. Permanent residents in Canada are also known as landed immigrants. They can also legally start their enterprise following Canadian immigration.

Canada put forward new strategies to advance family reunification in 2023.

Family reunification was always a core pillar of Canada’s immigration strategy. The immigration Minister of Canada, Sean Fraser announced a set of new measures to facilitate the reunification of families of immigrants. In his speech on May 26 at Vancouver, Fraser talked about the importance immigrants play in Canada and highlighted that in order to remain top in welcoming new comers to Canada, they must consider welcoming and giving better options to their families as well.

Immigration, refugees, and citizenship Canada (IRCC), fulfil the prime minister’s instruction to reunite the family by issuing temporary resident visas (TRVs) to spouses and children while waiting for the process of their PR application.  This new process of spousal TRV application has approved over 98% of applications for spouses and their dependent children. Earlier there was a backlog of TRV visitor visas for spouses of applicants of permanent resident status, it has now eliminated. Now the processing time for TRV application is 30 days or more. Another positive news is that the processing of new PR applications will be done within the standard 12-month processing time.

The new measures introduced to strengthen family reunification include:

Faster temporary resident visa (TRV) processing times for spousal applicants

New and dedicated processing tools for spousal TRV applicants

A new open work permit for spousal and family class applicants

Open work permit extensions for open work permit holders expiring between August 1 and the end of 2023

Changes in Open Work Permit

Newcomers always seek job in Canada to support their family. Considering this Canada has also made Open Work Permit available for spousal applicants and their dependent children who reside with their sponson with a temporary resident status.  Open work permit holders, whose open work permit expires between August 1 and at the end of 2023 can now extend their work permit for an additional 18 months. IRCC believes that by issuing temporary work permit, work load and stress can be limited by improving financial stability and making it easier for families to stay together and live in their communities. With this program more than 200,000 foreign workers can enter Canada’s workforce, which will help reduce the national labour shortage and strengthen the economy.

Family Class immigration

Family class immigration is the second most popular immigration method in Canada. Implementation of the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025 will enable Canada to welcome 118,000 permanent residents a year through family class sponsorship. This includes spouses, partners, dependent children and also parents and grandparents.

The eligibility criteria to sponsor a family member for the sponsor must be:

A Canadian citizen or have Canadian PR

18 years of age or above.

Must be able to support the sponsored person for several years.

Immigration will continue to play a vital role in overcoming Canada’s labour shortages, and together these initiatives will create a positive impact for immigrants and their families.

The fastest growing industries in Canada for newcomers

Canada’s economy is stable and strong and it is the world’s eighth-largest economy as of 2022. Canada, one of the world’s largest trading nations, is witnessing a strong rebound in all sectors after the pandemic.

The major reason for the continued economic growth of Canada is the country’s high immigration targets. The Canadian government aims to boost its economic growth with The Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025. The new plan will admit 500,000 immigrants a year by the end of 2025.

Canada’s population is over 3.82 crores and almost 25% of the people are identified as immigrants. Approximately 75% of Canada’s population growth comes from immigration, mostly in the economic category. It is expected that by 2036 immigrants will occupy up to 30% of Canada’s population. Newcomers are getting solid opportunities in the national labour caused by either lack of qualified candidates or by a large number of retirements. Canada possesses several thriving industries that are constantly expanding. Have a look at the fastest-growing industries in Canada with the most in-demand skills.

The healthcare industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries in Canada. The aging population and advancement in medical technology create a high demand for healthcare professionals in areas like nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, dentistry, and many more. Currently, over 35% of physicians, 23% of registered nurses, and 39% of dentists are immigrants in Canada. The number of job vacancies in the healthcare industry is the highest of all sectors in Canada, with a vacancy of 143,800 vacant positions.

CANADA Immigration process of Healthcare worker

Most of healthcare workers arrive in Canada through an Express Entry Program. As the name suggests the immigration process happens within a short span of time mostly a few months. Express Entry Program targets highly skilled candidates in the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canada Experience Class, or the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Canada is the largest destination for U.S. exports of high-value agricultural products, with a 23% market share in 2021. The Canadian agriculture sector provides employment for over 243,000 people and currently has a job vacancy rate of more than 14,000. A recent study conducted by the Royal Bank of Canada observes that more than 40% of farmers in Canada will retire within 10 years. To tackle the short-term skill crisis Canada must accept 30,000 permanent immigrants over the next ten years to build more farms and greenhouses or to take over the existing ones.

IRCC recently announced it is extending the Agri-Food Pilot program and removing occupational gaps. Eligible occupations which fall under this program include:

  • Retail Butchers
  • Industrial Butchers
  • Farm Supervisors and Specialised Livestock Workers
  • Food Processing Labourers
  • General Farm Workers
  • Harvesting Labourers

Canada has a very strong technology sector with over 43,200 companies in the Canadian information and Communications Technologies Sector. One of the major components of the federal budget 2023 was to invest 20$ Billion to support the building of major clean electricity clean growth infrastructure projects. This will pave the way for demand in the tech sector.

AI continues to be an important technology investment area in Canada. The federal budget 2021 announced that it would give C$ 185 million to support the commercialization of AI research. In addition, Canada ranks 4 in the Global AI Index for its global competitiveness in AI implementation, innovation, and investment.

As part of the temporary worker’s program, IRCC offers programs like the Global Talent Stream to bring in more tech workers to Canada. Provincial Nominee Programs like BC Tech Stream, OINP Tech Draw, Saskatchewan Tech Talent Pathway, and the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway help foreign workers to become permanent residents of Canada.

In this post-pandemic time, Canada is ready to welcome immigrants as they are in need of skilled labourers to meet the country’s needs. This is definitely a legit opportunity for people aiming to immigrate to Canada. The doors are wide open!

Express Entry: Canada invites 4800 candidates in first draw of June 2023

The IRCC held its 14th Express Entry draw for 2023.

In June’s initial draw, following the recent draw on May 24, a total of 4,800 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 488 were invited in an all-program draw. Notably, this minimum score requirement is higher compared to the previous all-program draw on April 26, which had a minimum CRS score requirement of 483.

Exciting news from IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada): they have recently introduced six new category-based selection criteria for Express Entry candidates. These categories aim to attract candidates with specific attributes that align with Canada’s economic goals. The new categories include:

  1. Healthcare professionals
  2. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) experts
  3. Skilled tradespeople (e.g., carpenters, plumbers, contractors)
  4. Transportation industry workers
  5. Agriculture and agri-food specialists
  6. Candidates with strong French speaking abilities

These categories have been established to ensure that Canada’s immigration system remains responsive to the evolving needs of its economy. Candidates with relevant work experience in these fields will have enhanced opportunities to immigrate to Canada through the Express Entry system.

Looking at the numbers, excluding the current draw, IRCC has already invited a significant number of candidates in 2023. Over 13 draws, a total of 49,948 candidates have received invitations. This figure is notably higher than the number of candidates invited between July and November 2022, during which IRCC did not hold any all-program draws until July 2022 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (with 31,000 candidates invited).
