Canada holds the first express entry draw of September 2023: Invite a total of 3,200 candidates in an all-program draw

The first express entry draw of September

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada held the first express entry draw of September, after a gap of over one month. Yesterday’s draw invited a total of 3,200 candidates in an all-program draw. The minimum CRS score required for eligibility was 531.

Since this is an all-program draw, candidates can be invited from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Provincial Nominee Program.

The previous express entry draw was held on August 15, which invited a total of 4300 candidates in an all-program draw.

Other Express Entry Draws in August 2023

From August 1-3, IRCC held three consecutive draws.

On August 3, IRCC held its first-ever category-based draw for trade occupations issuing 1500 ITAs with a minimum CRS score of 388. The category includes professions like plumbing, carpentry, welding, etc.

On August 2, IRCC held the second express entry draw of August 2023, inviting a total of 800 candidates. The category-based draw was for people with French language proficiency and the minimum CRS score required for eligibility was 435.

The first express entry draw of August was held on August 1 inviting 2000 candidates in an all-program draw. To meet the eligibility requirements, candidates must acquire a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 517. No programs were specifically mentioned in the draw, which means invitations were issued to candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

Category-Based Express Entry Draws

Sean Fraser, Canada’s former Immigration Minister, has announced the implementation of category-based selection draws targeting Express Entry candidates. These draws aim to attract a greater number of highly skilled professionals specializing in specific occupations that are in high demand within Canada.

The new categories under the Express Entry Programs are:

  • Healthcare occupations
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations
  • Trade occupations
  • Transport occupations
  • Agriculture and Agri-food occupations
  • French-language proficiency

IRCC reviews these categories each year and may change them in the next year.
